M+F Spedition is actively supported in its daily business by people from Lebenshilfe Nordhorn. We have been integrating people with disabilities into our toy logistics for more than ten years – with success for all sides. To get an impression of our joint cooperation, we spoke with Dieter Klimek.
I am a group leader and occupational therapist at Lebenshilfe here at the Nordhorn site. Our daily tasks include processing the orders. This includes assembling and packing the goods. To ensure optimal work for all employees, I divide them into different areas based on their needs, regarding their impairments. This way, no worker is at a disadvantage at work.
There are 12 employees working here with me, including young people who are doing a voluntary social year.
I have been doing the work for M+F Spedition for over ten years. I’ve been there from the beginning and it’s still a lot of fun.
We get the orders from M+F Spedition. In an additional hall we handle consignments and products from Playmobil and Jazwares, toys that is. On a normal working day, I work with the same 12 employees every day. Every now and then, however, new employees do a work placement with us in the group or our employees do a work placement on the general labour market.
It is a very heterogeneous group. We have employees of all ages. Some come to us straight from school and some are over 60 years old. The impairments are diverse I always make sure that everyone does the right job. For many, it is very fulfilling to do this job.
We are all one big family. There is a very high level of acceptance from the employees of M+F Spedition. We are all colleagues who work together and take breaks together. A football team has even been formed in which everyone can play. That is more than integration, that is inclusion.
