Rail transport – rail freight between China and Europe

From China to Duisburg: Rail freight on the new Silk Road

Is it about rail transport between China and Europe? Then it’s also about the new Silk Road. Covering a distance of 11,000 kilometres, it is considered the most important connection for rail transport between China and Europe. The logistics project was initiated by the New Silk Network. And as a founding member of the network, we can proudly say: Huettemann also launched the New Silk Road. To strengthen the global infrastructure and promote trade between China and Europe.

In addition, there is another link between our freight forwarding company and the new Silk Road: it begins and ends at our headquarters in Duisburg. On the one hand, this strengthens our connection to the new transport route between China and Germany. On the other hand, you benefit considerably in terms of efficiency – for example, when loading your goods.

Rail transport: Reliable, individual and organised all along the line

Even though we have many good reasons for rail transport via the Silk Road: The focus is always on the best solution for you. Among other things, we enable rail transport via the Trans-Siberian route. To ensure efficient rail transport, we always develop an individual transport concept for our customers. To this end, we rely on our own partner offices in China and Kazakhstan as well as a strong logistics network. Whether LCL (Less than Container Load) or FCL (Full Container Load) cargo: We take care of the smooth transport process. We also organise all pre-carriage and onward carriage. In this way, we combine several modes of transport into multimodal transport chains. For example, we handle the transfer of your goods from sea transport to rail or from rail to truck. Another plus: customs clearance can take place during rail transport. This saves valuable time.

Time and environmental benefits: rail freight as an alternative to air and sea freight

Twice as fast as sea freight and considerably cheaper than air freight: rail transport is the economical and timely middle way for the transport of goods. Transport between China and Germany via the Silk Road takes only about 16 days. Freight transport by ship takes about 35 days. Rail freight is no match for the very short journey by air. On the other hand, it scores with much more favourable conditions. The big plus, which speaks equally in favour of rail transport compared to sea and air freight, is that rail transport is particularly environmentally friendly due to the reduction in CO2 emissions.

Rail freight costs: What does rail transport cost?

Since we develop an individual transport concept for each of our customers, it is not possible to determine a flat rate for rail freight transport. What is certain is our common goal: the most efficient transport of your freight. So we work out all the important points and then determine the price for your rail transport. Among other things, the following factors are decisive for the rail freight costs: weight, volume, distance, goods, pre- and on-carriage, customs clearance, means of transport (classic, silo, refrigeration) and packaging, possibly subject to exchange (euro pallet, pallet cage).
