HUETTEMANN GROUP CELEBRATES 60TH ANNIVERSARY
Duisburg, 26 October 2016. The HUETTEMANN GROUP, headquarter in Duisburg, celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. The family-owned company has successfully established itself on the market as an innovative logistics specialist and employs around 715 people at 25 locations.
It all started with two tippers. Wolf Hüttemann, a trained forwarding agent and lawyer, Hüttemann, then 23 years young, became co-founder and partner of Paul Obhues oHG in Duisburg-Rheinhausen in 1956. Coal, iron, steel – in the urgently needed in the Ruhr region. In 1970 Frachtenkontor GmbH, which was additionally founded in 1964, acquires the Heinrich Knoche OHG in Bremen and one year later Gille-Hermann Jenssen GmbH. This marked the leap to a supra-regional player and the company’s entry into the building materials logistics sector. 1971 Paul Obhues oHG and Frachtenkontor GmbH merge.
Acquisitions and the development of further logistics competencies
His son Klaus Hüttemann, who manages the company in the second generation, sees in this development above all a successful ability to adapt to the market: “We have been able to constantly expand our range of services through our investments,” he says. “This high level of customer orientation and above all the commitment and the good work of our employees have made us strong.” Frachtenkontor continued to grow in the 1980s through further acquisitions and shareholdings. For example, the group of companies makes a name with Heinrich Knoche + E. Barth Vereinigte Speditions GmbH outsourcing partner for industry. 1988 Frachtenkontor takes over the M + F Spedition in Nordhorn. Over the past ten years, it has become a proven specialist in the specialist in pan-European toy logistics.
Generation change, new brand umbrella and the leap across the border
The next important step follows in 1990: the company enters the market with the the Dutch haulage company D.H.-Trans. In 2005, the company’s market position in the Netherlands is strengthened by the takeover of the Rabex Group. Since 2013, the company has also been active in Romania with its own national company.
In 2003, Frachtenkontor changed its name to HUETTEMANN GROUP the group of companies, which in the meantime has grown in size, is thus given a clear outwardly visible brand umbrella. In 2008 the generation change is completed: Klaus Hüttemann (born in 1967, father of two children) takes over the management management together with Manfred Köhler. Together they continue to group of companies consistently.
In 2011, the HUETTEMANN GROUP acquires a majority stake in the forwarding company
Merkel-Wetzel in Kuppenheim in southern Germany. Also in 2015 in the west HUETTEMANN takes over the contract logistics and and forwarding business of delog delsing logistik-spedition GmbH in Dorsten. In Germany, the Netherlands and Romania the HUETTEMANN GROUP is now represented with 25 locations.

Today, the group of companies bundles its comprehensive range of services under the motto “Logistics and More”. The HUETTEMANN GROUP sees itself as an expert in the field of warehouse and contract logistics. Special attention is paid to services with added value – from labelling to international transport logistics, effective international transport logistics, effective IT management and competent consulting to individual after-sales solutions. Added to this is comprehensive know-how in the field of freight forwarding and as an outsourcing specialist. “We can look back on 60 years of successful company history,” Klaus Hüttemann. “With entrepreneurial spirit, quality and a high level of customer orientation we have been able to assert ourselves in the market as a medium-sized company and to develop further.
